Introducing Benjamin: Our new Commercial Lead for Fintech & SMB's


Benjamin Kyster

Benjamin is our new Commercial Lead for the SMB segment. He’s a down-to-earth guy with a keen eye for detail and a burning interest in PSD2.


He kicked off his career washing dishes, which didn't turn out to be his cup of tea, but it did teach him the value of hard work and business dynamics.

He spends his free time paddleboarding through the canals of Christianshavn, running in the natural surroundings of Utterslev and making his own pasta.

Benjamin feels energised when our users create innovative products powered by Nordic API Gateway and when he manages to automate workflows, bringing them to a smarter, more efficient level.

We asked Benjamin a couple of questions, to get to know him even better. Here's what he said: 

Describe yourself in three words:

Empathic, detail-driven and down-to-earth

What did you want to be growing up?Pilot - wanted to experience every country across the globe. 

Describe your first job:
At 13, I started as a dishwasher at a local café. Probably not the most interesting job, but it teached me at a young age the dynamics of a business and the benefits of hard work.

Fun fact about yourself: 
I often experiment with making my own homemade pasta shapes. Who does not love homemade pasta.

Which series is the best on Netflix, HBO or wherever you watch TV?

What excites you about your work?
My work enables financial innovation to be accomplished by even the smallest participants in the fintech space

When do you feel the most motivated at your work? I feel most motivated at work, when:

  • I see our customers using our products to create awesome and innovate products/services on top of ours.
  • When processes/workflows gets automated to reach “next-level” productivity

Why did you choose to work at Nordic API Gateway? Nordic API Gateway is a critical player in shaping the future of how both consumers/businesses think and utilizes financial services.

Given that I wrote my master thesis around PSD2 and the future of the payment technologies it was natural to join NAG and making my theoretical thoughts and considerations become a reality

What do you do to reset and recharge when you’re dealing with work stuff?

  • Running around Utterslev mose enjoying the wildlife
  • I really enjoy taking my sup-board to the beach or the canals of Christianshavn. Here you get the best of both world: peacefulness and exercise.  

What do you think you’d be doing if you weren't working in sales? 

Good question. I think I joined a pretty awesome team here at Nordic API Gateway. I don’t see why doing anything else 🙂
